As we get started...

Hello to all of our fellow St. Pat's Book Club participants this month. We have such an exciting book that it will be hard to put it down! I am half way through already and just started it two days ago! Don't worry if you are not nearly that far yet in the book, just read as much as you can by our discussion date on the 16th, it is definitely not a prerequisite for the discussion that you have the entire book read. We just want everyone there for some good discussions and thoughts. I wanted to post a few questions pertaining to the first half of this book for everyone to think about and share your thoughts. Please feel free to make any other comments/questions pertaining to this book.

Enjoy the book,

1 - What did you think about Fr. Ciszek's "call" to the priesthood, especially considering his "tough" personality? Were you surprised that he felt this call?

2 - How did his childhood and self-disciplined seminary training prepare him for the horrible, yet remarkable years ahead?

3 - Fr. Ciszek always stated that he truly believed that it was God's divine providence that gave him the courage and strength to endure what he did. How does that fit with your understanding of God, especially considering that Fr. Ciszek ended up where he did because he was trying to serve God?
